Shift APPens'25
The oldest Hackathon in Portugal is celebrating its 11th Edition!
Date: 1st to 3rd of May 2025
Place: Indoor Tennis Complex of the University of Coimbra Stadium
The Cybersecurity Laboratory (CSlab) at CISUC focuses on advancing cybersecurity research and training. In addition to conducting cutting-edge research, CSlab fosters hands-on learning through activities such as Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions and Ethical Hacking (ETH) exercises. The lab also provides access to cybersecurity academies offered by leading security vendors, including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco.
As part of our training and event initiatives, we organized a CTF competition at ShiftAppens (a 48-hour programming and entrepreneurship competition where teams collaborate to develop innovative technology projects). Our CTF event challenged participants with cybersecurity scenarios, enhancing their skills in ethical hacking, vulnerability analysis, and security problem-solving. The event featured challenges of varying difficulty levels, for both beginners and experienced participants. Additionally, we provided a dedicated training environment with a series of guided challenges, accompanied by step-by-step tutorials.
The winners of this competition received a Dual Screen Action Camera each as a prize.
The event was successful, having 17 teams competing on it, and the winners were João Gaspar and Tiago Almeida.
